About the Company
MiaSolé is a producer of lightweight, flexible and powerful solar cells and cell manufacturing equipment. The innovative solar cell is based on the highest efficiency thin film technology available today, and its flexible cell architecture makes it ideal for a wide variety of solutions ranging from commercial roofing solar panels to flexible mobile energy devices. MiaSolé’s turnkey CIGS equipment lines, CIGS process equipment technology, proprietary CIG target manufacturing, R&D support and spare parts allow customers to produce their own high-efficiency cells.
Founded in 2004, MiaSolé has evolved from a scrappy, Silicon Valley start-up to the world leader in thin film solar panel efficiency. In our Sunnyvale, CA facility, we have demonstrated 17.5% module efficiency in production and 19.4% cell efficiency in the lab.
In December 2012, MiaSolé became a member of the Hanergy family. Since then, MiaSolé joined the newly created Hanergy Solar Group as MiaSolé Hi-Tech Corp. Hanergy provides unparalleled financial, technical, and sales expertise.
MiaSolé continues to increase cell performance as well as develop new applications for our technology. As part of the Hanergy family, we continue to be on the forefront of the solar industry, with over 200 invention patents and patent applications worldwide.
Dr. Zhang has extensive executive experience in running US and international companies. Over the past 18 years, he has held a wide variety of engineering and executive positions in the semiconductor and renewable energy industries.
Prior to MiaSolé, Dr. Zhang was the CEO of Hareon International, Vice President and Board member of Hareon Solar Technology, managing over 25 international subsidiaries and joint venture companies throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He spent eight years running corporate strategy, S&M, M&A, R&D, OEM, solar power plant development, financing, EPC, O&M, asset management and divestment. Before Hareon, he served as technology director at Cypress Semiconductor, leading international teams to develop, license and transfer 130nm and 65nm Mixed-Signal System-on-Chip semiconductor technology platforms. He also worked two years in NVIDIA’s foundry management team and four years in Cypress Semiconductor’s R&D team as technology integration staff engineer. Dr. Zhang received his B.Sc from Central South University, M.Eng. from Tsinghua University in China, PhD from Arizona State University in Materials Science, and graduated GMP from Harvard Business School as HBS alumni.
Mr. Mike Ma is a senior business executive with over 20 years of industry experience at multi-national corporations with global footprints. Mr. Ma currently serves as Vice President Global Business Development at MiaSole Hi-Tech, a thin-film CIGS solar technology company. For the past 6 years at MiaSole, Mr. Ma has been in various critical roles, including Vice President, Sales & Marketing, General Manager of MiaSole Solar Technology (Shanghai) LTD, and Vice President, Program Management. He has closed deals of more than $1.2 billion on factory equipment delivery contracts in the last four years and managed global project teams to deliver turnkey CIGS production equipment and technology transfer to the customers in China. Before joining MiaSole, Mr. Ma was Vice President of Product Engineering and Director of Market & Product Development at Portola Packaging where he led and managed multiple global engineering project teams to serve customers worldwide. He holds a MS. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Certificate of Project Management from the George Washington University-School of Business.
Dr. Atiye Bayman has 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining Miasolé, she was with Novellus Systems Inc. for 8 years. At Novellus, as Director of Technology for the high-density plasma products, she was responsible for process development for dielectric deposition for gap fill applications. Dr. Bayman developed expertise in device performance optimization and process integration at Synergy Semiconductor Inc., a semiconductor device company specialized in fast memory and application specific chips. During her 11 years at Synergy, she held positions in yield management and technology development. She started her career at Advanced Micro Devices, where she developed plasma etch processes for AMD’s first trench isolated bipolar technology. Dr. Bayman holds a Ph.D in solid state physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and Bachelor of Science in physics from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.
