POSITION SUMMARY

The Process Engineer within the Process Development Group is tasked with supporting new process development and manufacturing methods to improve thin film solar cell performance and reliability. Candidates will develop, execute and complete projects involving experimentation on development tools and on production deposition systems.  This includes rigorous statistical analysis of experiments, evaluation of historical datasets and the development of software tools that can aid in those endeavors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop process conditions to achieve optimal device performance of thin film photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules.
  • Design, execute and supervise experiments on development tools and on production sputter deposition equipment.
  • Generate and evaluate film and device data from deliberate process variation experiments and a wide range of historic data. Summarize and present new learning.
  • Identify opportunities for device and materials performance improvements, for better process control and for more efficient experimentation through novel methods. Transfer lab scale ideas into manufacturing following a formal development and qualification process.
  • Maintain and expand existing software applications and enhance their capabilities.
  • Enable automated analysis of materials, process and device data and create reports and dashboards to enable data-driven decision making and automated process control.
  • Support manufacturing engineering and technical teams in the areas of film deposition, solar cell characterization and quantification of cell and module efficiency detractors. Develop, write and review procedures and response flows.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • Experience in photovoltaic (PV) development, thin film process development, or manufacturing process development environments
  • Fluency in the MS Office suite and in statistical analysis using tools such as JMP is required. Prior use and understanding of design of experiments methods (DOE) is a plus.
  • Strong programming skills in C#, C, or C++.
  • Strong skills in database systems and complex SQL queries.
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms and numerical optimization techniques.

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The NPI team is responsible for successful transfer of current and future technology generations from development to manufacturing. This is a highly technical job. This position interfaces and works with technology and product development, manufacturing, equipment engineering, technical support, failure analysis, reliability engineering, testing engineering, program management for successful introduction and evolution of manufacturing processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand technology that will be transferred by following its development cycle
  • Understand requirements of supporting functions, including FA, Reliability, Testing, etc, for success technology transfer
  • Evaluate supporting tool readiness for manufacture by reviewing data sets available from development, identifying missing pieces and driving for completion

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Escalation support for our turnkey factories:

  • As escalation lead, support all technical issues escalated from our field service team in a timely manner
  • Lead and manage the escalation and drive the escalation process to closure with resources from across functional groups
  • Identify systemic issues through detailed root cause analysis and develop long term solutions by improving process capabilities, hardware capabilities, procedures, spares, training and staffing

Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer position involves designing and developing electrical systems for the fabrication of thin film photovoltaic devices using PVD processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing electrical systems which include; AC, DC, Pulsed DC power supplies, power distribution systems, PLCs, electrical and electro/optic sensors, motors, and servo controllers. The candidate must have a working knowledge of RS232, 485, Ethernet, and Device Net communication protocols.

 

Position Responsibilities:

·        Create designs that comply to specifications and all applicable design standards.

·        Perform engineering calculations with respect to power consumption, current capacity, shielding, signal integrity, risk assessment, etc.

·        Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to design the electrical portion of a system that will perform its intended function safely and reliably.

He/she will lead the company in responsibility for manufacturing, inventory, supply chain and fixed asset finance. This role leads a team but is also very hands on, the team is currently 3 individuals including cost and fixed asset accounting.  He/she is pivotal to driving visibility and transparency in to our cost per watt results, and our levers to achieve our goals.  He/she interacts with executives across operations to assure timely and accurate reporting and forecasting of our operational key metrics, financial results for both gross margin and working capital.

Responsibilities:

 

Overall responsibility for the annual budget, financial forecasting and financial reporting processes for manufacturing, inventory, capital and supply chain;

  • Responsible for the operating and maintenance of the Oracle based cost accounting processes and systems, including cost per watt and monthly standard cost maintenance within the ERP system. This role is responsible for all raw materials, WIP, finished goods and spare parts
    • Responsible for managing the cost model and aligning projects to key cost reductions
    • Analyze and report actual versus planned costs and associated variances
    • Build a full accounting system that can be leveraged and expanded to multiple sites as we strive to build out our capacity
    • Approval and tracking of all materials purchases

Electrical Engineer – BEOL

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Electrical Engineer position is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of electrical systems for custom volume solar equipment- new and existing. The electrical systems design will include AC low voltage power distribution, and computer controlled PLC based IO systems. These systems involve interfacing and control of system components such as motors, servos, steppers, VFD’s, sensors, component IO, electro-mechanical assemblies, vision, and safety systems.

The candidate must have working knowledge of interface standards and protocols such as Ethernet, RS232, RS485, field busses, and current loop. PLC controls experience a plus.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and modifications of electrical systems from ideas and concept to a final released product.
  • Provide electrical and controls support for new and existing equipment, installations, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Familiarity with safety and design standards including UL, NFPA, EN, and SEMI.

Responsibilities:

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

Material Handler - Raw Materials

Material Handler

Overview:

  • This position will generally take instruction from more senior personnel
  • This position is not the typical warehouse-based material handler position. The career growth path is to a manufacturing technician position rather than a more senior material handler or warehouse management position
  • There will be a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities associated with the position, so the successful candidate should be willing and able to perform many different types of work and to multitask effectively
  • Success will largely depend on a proactive approach, good communication, and a positive attitude

Responsibilities:

  • Handling of manufacturing materials
    • Request raw materials by submitting material transfer requests to the warehouse
    • Transport materials coming from the warehouse to the lab including the recording of materials information in MES and stocking on-line inventory locations
    • Final inspection and shipping of finished goods; receiving and inspection of returned used product for refurbishment
    • Pre-inspection and shipping of parts for outside cleaning and receiving inspection of parts returned
  • Responsibility for manufacturing material inventory
    • Perform transactions related to movement of inventory and production of finished goods
    • Reconciliation of physical inventory to inventory records
    • Keep storage containers available, clean and organized
    • Prepare labels for WIP and finished goods; make sure crates/containers are properly labeled
    • Work with outside vendors to procure parts and services
  • Handling of waste and scrap materials, some of which will require use of PPE including PAPR (respirator)
    • Accurately track inventory of waste and scrap materials
    • Acquire drums from the warehouse and affix proper labeling for waste/scrap collection
    • Collect and consolidate waste from dust collector equipment
    • Move barrels of waste and scrap to warehouse and provide documents for shipment
  • Track and maintain consumables and spare parts inventories, including procurement of replenishment stock
  • Preparation of metrology samples and operation of XRF equipment
  • Responsibility for quality/checking of incoming materials and/or finished product
  • Some operation of various laboratory and machine shop tools and equipment
  • Occasional trips to local business to pick up parts and supplies
  • Must keep the lab clean and organized, including periodic cleaning of equipment and exposed surfaces

Requirements:

  • HS graduate. Additional technical training preferred.
  • The individual will be required to work in an environment requiring adherence to safety and dress standards, including but not limited to wearing safety shoes, safety glasses, latex gloves, PAPR, ear plugs, etc. as appropriate
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Physical requirements include manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, able to lift, bend, stoop, reach, pull, etc.
  • Experience with detailed data entry to accurately record inventories and materials information and transact material lots through process and inventory locations.
  • Occasional overtime hours may be needed.

Summary Description

The primary purpose for the Supply Chain Manager – Planning is to aid and facilitate the formulation of the company production planning function. Must effectively create and maintain an efficient production schedule that meets customer requirements while minimizing cycle times and effectively utilizing inventory. This position reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain.

Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and mentor the Planning Group to ensure a high level of proficiency and development
  • Optimize processes for production requirements planning and spare parts fulfillment
  • Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, and Program Management to develop and improve planning function and efficiency
  • Lead the development of scheduling tools to increase the level of automation and reduce the manual nature of the Scheduling function.
  • Establish well-supported solutions with specific recommendations to support critical go/no go decisions.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and on paper, at all levels of the organization providing guidance and expertise to develop company knowledge relative to schedule optimization
  •  Maintain a high standard of professional integrity, knowledge, ethics and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, subordinates, supervisors and other key stakeholders of the company

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years Planning and Supply Chain management experience
  • 3+ years experience managing others
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in developing, implementing, and assessing key operational and financial metrics. Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP with a solid understand of discrete manufacturing, bills of material, product lifecycle management, procure to pay processes and supply chain operations
  • Demonstrated resilience and capacity to lead a team through periods of change.
