POSITION SUMMARY

The Process Engineer within the Process Development Group is tasked with supporting new process development and manufacturing methods to improve thin film solar cell performance and reliability. Candidates will develop, execute and complete projects involving experimentation on development tools and on production deposition systems.  This includes rigorous statistical analysis of experiments, evaluation of historical datasets and the development of software tools that can aid in those endeavors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop process conditions to achieve optimal device performance of thin film photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules.
  • Design, execute and supervise experiments on development tools and on production sputter deposition equipment.
  • Generate and evaluate film and device data from deliberate process variation experiments and a wide range of historic data. Summarize and present new learning.
  • Identify opportunities for device and materials performance improvements, for better process control and for more efficient experimentation through novel methods. Transfer lab scale ideas into manufacturing following a formal development and qualification process.
  • Maintain and expand existing software applications and enhance their capabilities.
  • Enable automated analysis of materials, process and device data and create reports and dashboards to enable data-driven decision making and automated process control.
  • Support manufacturing engineering and technical teams in the areas of film deposition, solar cell characterization and quantification of cell and module efficiency detractors. Develop, write and review procedures and response flows.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • Experience in photovoltaic (PV) development, thin film process development, or manufacturing process development environments
  • Fluency in the MS Office suite and in statistical analysis using tools such as JMP is required. Prior use and understanding of design of experiments methods (DOE) is a plus.
  • Strong programming skills in C#, C, or C++.
  • Strong skills in database systems and complex SQL queries.
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms and numerical optimization techniques.

Primary Responsibility:

Position is responsible to work with global logistics and technical functions to develop and continuously improve data analysis and reporting tools. This person is to establish a supply chain resource in defining and updating Global Harmonized System requirements, data collection and business systems development, as well as ensuring compliance to export laws and regulations

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance with Globally Harmonized System (GHS) requirements including monitoring of adoption; and managing labeling requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Escalation support for our turnkey factories:

  • As escalation lead, support all technical issues escalated from our field service team in a timely manner
  • Lead and manage the escalation and drive the escalation process to closure with resources from across functional groups
  • Identify systemic issues through detailed root cause analysis and develop long term solutions by improving process capabilities, hardware capabilities, procedures, spares, training and staffing
  • Work with technical specialties to document escalations, and generate post-mortem reports that ready at customer level

 

Support new product introductions to the field:

  • Provide support and technical feedback to the design team during development, prototype testing, and beta release

Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer position involves designing and developing electrical systems for the fabrication of thin film photovoltaic devices using PVD processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing electrical systems which include; AC, DC, Pulsed DC power supplies, power distribution systems, PLCs, electrical and electro/optic sensors, motors, and servo controllers. The candidate must have a working knowledge of RS232, 485, Ethernet, and Device Net communication protocols.

This role leads a team but is also very hands on, the team is currently 3 individuals including cost and fixed asset accounting.  He/she is pivotal to driving visibility and transparency in to our cost per watt results, and our levers to achieve our goals.  He/she interacts with executives across operations to assure timely and accurate reporting and forecasting of our operational key metrics, financial results for both gross margin and working capital.

Responsibilities:

 

Overall responsibility for the annual budget, financial forecasting and financial reporting processes for manufacturing, inventory, capital and supply chain;

  • Responsible for the operating and maintenance of the Oracle based cost accounting processes and systems, including cost per watt and monthly standard cost maintenance within the ERP system. This role is responsible for all raw materials, WIP, finished goods and spare parts
    • Responsible for managing the cost model and aligning projects to key cost reductions
    • Analyze and report actual versus planned costs and associated variances
    • Build a full accounting system that can be leveraged and expanded to multiple sites as we strive to build out our capacity
    • Approval and tracking of all materials purchases
    • Ensure appropriate controls are in place, including management reserves to appropriately value inventory and assets
  • Capital equipment – we are a highly vertically integrated manufacturer, and this role will support all aspects of capital accounting

Position is responsible for all MiaSole Hi-Tech (MHT) facilities located in California, leading a group of facilities technicians, mechanics and janitorial staff supporting MHT operations. Role is primary interface with leaseholders and local governmental agencies such as Fire, Police, Planning, Building code enforcement and sanitary departments. This position is the primary security official within MHT. All facilities maintenance, projects, upgrades and repairs are planned, budgeted and coordinated through this position.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Staff, hire and train technical staff, establish objectives, review and administer employee development and compensation.
  • Maintain maintenance records as described in various procedures and as required by local regulatory compliance
  • Perform (or contract) scheduled preventative maintenance procedures as defined and maintain records of such activities.
  • Maintain facilities documentation such as: current employee seating, accurate facilities layouts, Staff job descriptions, and other documentation as required.
  • Support facility/process changes as requested. Manage facilities projects either through MHT staff or outside contractors.
  • Ensure all building/equipment modifications have appropriate permits/fees and resolve any issues which may arise during project implementation.
  • Ensure security systems in all facilities are operational, including video monitoring, locks, alarms, and notices as required by local jurisdiction.

The Equipment Engineering Technician position is responsible for hands on troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, upgrades, training, and procedure documentation for custom volume solar production equipment- new and existing. The Equipment Engineering Technician will become tool expert on equipment and operation. Responsible for maintaining high volume electro-mechanical tools and assemblies involving pneumatics, motion, conveyors, vision, and temperature controllers. These tools electrically consist of AC low voltage power distribution, and computer controlled PLC based IO. Basic electrical system components includes such as motors, servos, steppers, VFD’s, sensors, component IO, vision, and safety systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, assemble, assist, install, and perform modifications and adjustments of electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Assist with factory tool startup. Travel involved.
  • Should be familiar with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and fluid systems.
  • Will work under the guidance of mechanical and electrical engineers.
  • Recommend product improvements. Run equipment tests and take data.
