Burlington Ontario, July 19th, 2016 – Frederick & Simon Inc. is pleased to announce the first Canadian installation of the Solar Energy Storage LED streetlight designed and manufactured by ClearWorld LLC of New Orleans, Louisiana. The Solar Storage LED streetlight is installed as a demonstration unit with Sifton Properties Ltd. at a site in Mississauga Ontario.
The revolutionary lights are designed to produce electricity via a photovoltaic panel that wraps around a standard light pole. The cylindrical panel houses a lithium ion battery and wireless control unit. The SMART lights have the capability to operate completely off grid thereby reducing electricity costs and reducing carbon footprint for the operators such as municipalities, property developers/owners and utility companies. As well, the lights have the capability to operate for 15 days in cloudy conditions, notify operators when there is a fault and generate electricity to feed back into the grid.

The Mississauga unit is intended to be the first of many units to be installed in Ontario and other provinces for SMART developments. This energy technology is closely aligned with the Ontario Energy Board’s and the Ministry of Energy’s effort to achieve additional energy conservation and demand management within the province of Ontario. This lighting solution is ideal for SMART development projects, conservation, cost reduction efforts, remote & off-grid locations such as parks, mining sites and for all municipal roadway or parking applications.
